Rapsody – “Eve”

Rapsody Eve

The perhaps dopest female rapper (stupid term I know) in the game is back two years after the strong “Laila’s Wisdom” with her new album “Eve”.

As expected, she can convince with flow and content. While 9th Wonder is responsible for soulful beats as usual, it is Eric G who puts his stamp on the album and leads Rapsody beatwise in a new direction. Nottz, Khrysis and Mark Byrd were also involved.

The very interesting guest list includes Queen Latifah, Leikeli47, D’Angelo, GZA, K. Roosevelt, SiR, JID, Mereba, PJ Morton, Elle Varner and J. Cole on the already available “Sojourner”.

Rapsody is still doing pretty much everything right, but in my eyes she misses this one really big song (and by that I don’t mean a radio hit). Otherwise there is a risk that she will remain an insider tip or a rappers rapper despite a lot of talent and 9th Wonder, Jamla Records and Roc Nation support.

Oh yes, if you want to find out if you can make a dope beat out of a Phil Collins sample, listen to “Cleo”.
